Silica Gel Sand Filter

This oil-specific purification equipment adopts macroporous silica gel decolorizing sand as the core filter medium. It combines physical interception and polar adsorption to decolor, remove impurities, eliminate odors and dehydrate waste diesel oil, engine oil, hydraulic oil, vegetable oil and more. It enables oil regeneration and qualified reuse.

Working Principle

Physical interception: When oil passes through the silica gel sand bed, particulate contaminants and suspended solids are trapped in the gaps between sand grains.

Polar adsorption: The porous structure of silica gel (SiO₂) adsorbs pigments, colloids, oxides, odor molecules and trace moisture, turning dark and turbid oil into clear and transparent liquid.

Operation modes: It supports atmospheric pressure, pressurized operation (0.15–0.18MPa) and negative pressure operation. An air compressor can be equipped to boost flow rate for high-viscosity oil.

Medium regeneration: Saturated silica gel sand can be regenerated through solvent extraction (petroleum ether / ethanol) and drying. It can be recycled 2 to 3 times with an oil recovery rate of approximately 35%.

Waste mineral oil regeneration: Decolorization and impurity removal for diesel oil, engine oil and hydraulic oil to restore original performance.

Industrial oil refining: Deep purification of heat transfer oil, gear oil and compressor oil.

Vegetable oil & biodiesel: Decolorization, deodorization and colloid removal to improve product quality.

Waste oil recycling: Reduce hazardous waste discharge, realize resource recycling and comply with environmental regulations.

 

Selection Guide

By processing capacity:

Small flow (0.5–1 t/h): φ500×1500mm

Medium flow (2–3 t/h): φ800×1800mm

Large flow (5 t/h): φ1000×2000mm

By oil viscosity:

Low-viscosity oil (diesel oil): Atmospheric pressure type

High-viscosity oil (engine oil / hydraulic oil): Pressurized type

Filter medium selection:

20–40 mesh: For fast filtration

40–60 mesh: For high-precision decolorization

 

Installation & Maintenance

1. Installation: Fix the unit on a horizontal base. Connect oil inlet (bottom inlet, top outlet), oil outlet, drain port and air vent. Equip with 220V/380V oil transfer pump.

2. Sand replacement: Open the top cover or side port, discharge waste sand, fill new sand to 1/2–2/3 of tank height and compact properly.

3. Regeneration process: Extraction → Drying → Cooling → Reuse to cut operating costs.

Color: ≤ Grade 3 (transparent pale yellow)

Light transmittance: ≥ 80%

Moisture content: ≤ 0.05%

Mechanical impurities: ≤ 0.01%
