Fiber Ball Filter

The Fiber Ball Filter is a high-efficiency pressure precision filtration device, serving as an upgraded alternative to traditional quartz sand and walnut shell filters. It uses modified fiber balls as the core filter media, forming a unique deep-gradient filtration structure to achieve high-precision solid-liquid separation. Widely applied in oilfield wastewater, industrial circulating water, municipal reclaimed water, and other scenarios, it is an essential piece of equipment in industries such as petroleum, chemical, power, municipal engineering, and food processing.

Key Advantages

Filtration Accuracy: Traps impurities as small as 0.1-10μm, low effluent turbidity; Only captures particles above 5μm, limited accuracy

Dirt-Holding Capacity:  High specific surface area, 2-3 times higher than quartz sand; Low dirt-holding capacity, prone to clogging, short cycle

Operating Cost:  Low backwash intensity & water consumption, reusable filter media; High backwash water consumption, frequent media replacement

Application Scenarios: Oily wastewater, high-turbidity water, fine filtration; Conventional low-turbidity water treatment

Additional Features: Customizable carbon steel/stainless steel tanks; optional automatic control system for integrated filtration, backwashing, and drainage without manual intervention.

Working Principle

Filtration Stage (Deep Gradient Filtration)

When water flows downward through the filter bed, the fiber balls are compressed by the water pressure, forming a gradient structure with loose top and dense bottom:

Upper layer: Loose filter media intercepts large suspended particles

Middle layer: Gradually denser media captures medium-sized impurities

Lower layer: Compact media precisely traps fine pollutants (0.1-10μm), including colloids and emulsified oil droplets

This structure delivers far higher filtration accuracy than traditional granular filter media.

Backwashing Stage (Efficient Regeneration)

During backwashing, water flows upward to fully fluff and expand the fiber balls, expanding the gaps between media. Trapped impurities are carried away by the backwash water. The oil-phobic property of fiber balls prevents permanent adsorption of oil stains, ensuring excellent regeneration performance and extending the equipment's operating cycle.

Main Applications

Petrochemical Industry: Oilfield reinjection water filtration (reduces oil content from 25mg/L to 8mg/L); chemical wastewater pretreatment to prevent membrane fouling.

Municipal & Environmental Protection: Advanced treatment of sewage plant secondary effluent for water reuse; surface water purification in water plants.

Industrial Circulating Water: Side-stream filtration in steel, thermal power, and paper industries to remove suspended solids and algae, preventing scaling and corrosion.

Other Scenarios: Food & beverage raw water purification, swimming pool water treatment, rainwater recycling, aquaculture water filtration.

Maintenance Guidelines

Backwashing Cycle: Generally every 3-7 days based on inlet turbidity and pressure difference; backwash duration: 10-15 minutes.

Filter Media Replacement: Fiber balls have a service life of 3-5 years; replenish or replace if lost or caked.

Regular Inspection: Quarterly checks of tank seals, valves, and automatic control systems to ensure stable operation.
