Electromagnetic Flowmeter

The electromagnetic flowmeter is designed based on Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction. When conductive liquid flows through the uniform magnetic field generated by excitation coils, the liquid cuts magnetic induction lines and induces a voltage signal on electrodes proportional to the fluid flow velocity. After amplification and processing by the signal converter, the instantaneous flow rate and totalized flow volume of the fluid can be calculated.

Its prominent merit lies in no moving mechanical parts or throttling structures inside the measuring tube, resulting in zero abrasion and negligible pressure loss. Therefore, it is an optimal option for flow measurement of conductive liquids.

Product Selection & Operation Guidelines

1.Check medium conductivity:

Only applicable to conductive liquids with conductivity ≥20μS/cm; not suitable for non-conductive media including gas, steam and oil products.

2.Select liner & electrode per working condition:

PTFE liner plus Titanium/Tantalum electrodes are preferred for corrosive media; polyurethane rubber liner with scraper electrodes for abrasive mud.

3.Installation Instructions:

Ensure the pipeline is fully filled with measured medium all the time to avoid gas-liquid two-phase flow affecting measuring precision.

Reserve sufficient straight pipe sections before and after the sensor (≥5 times pipe diameter upstream, ≥3 times pipe diameter downstream); avoid installation close to elbows and valves.

Mount the flowmeter following the FLOW marking arrow to prevent interference from strong external magnetic field.
